Recipes

My son absolutely LOVES a local midwest restaurant called Runza. It’s a fast-food restaurant with amazing burgers, fries, onion rings and a special sandwich that they famously call…a Runza.

The Runza sandwich is a take on a bierock, which is a yeast dough pastry pocket with a savory filling that originated in Russia and is a favorite in German communities.

The beauty of this recipe is you can get incredibly creative and put whatever savory ingredients you want. The Classic Runza sandwich is a beef mixture, but my kids love the Cheese Runza - essentially the Classic with cheese added.

We’ve seen mushroom swiss, spicy jack, BBQ bacon and many other Runza flavors. Have fun with this one and watch your kids be amazed at how the dough rises to fill out the bread pans during your prep.

Remember to look for clever ingredient swaps and FAQs on more and more recipes every week!

Take a flavor quiz to be matched with your perfect 6pk of wine and get $100 off your first order for $39.99 shipped. Customers only pay for wines they love - no questions asked. It’s the best way to get personalized shipments from award-winning indie winemakers.

Reviews

Ever since we started offering our Foodness Followers product reviews, my wife and I have started upgrading some of our most-used kitchen products.

We have some new mixing bowls, a new air fryer, fresh baking sheets and now we are on the verge of an upgrade to our cutting boards.

If your cutting boards are like ours, we have old plastic and stained (I would call them “white” in color, but we all know I am just lying to myself at this point) versions of cutting boards. They are also now so concave that if you start cutting on the wrong side, you’re guaranteed to get food or juice all over the counter.

Check out our cutting board product reviews where you will find, as always, our budget, premium and responsible choices.

Responsibility

Did you know that storing foods in an inefficient or ineffective way costs the average household over $1,800 per year? That’s a huge number and one that I would much rather see go into my savings account or put towards a fun getaway with my kiddos.

In one of our latest Responsibility articles we share great tips on how to store food properly in the fridge, freezer and even at room temperature.

Foodness Fun - Poll

A fun debate we like to have in our house revolves around cookies.

Some in our house love a more doughy and soft cookie. The rest like a cookie with a little bit of crunch and crispiness around the edges. To me, cookies are amazing no matter how you make them.

But that’s not how we do it here in our Foodness Fun Poll.

It is up to you now to decide…

How do you like your cookies?
