Foodness Gracious - Week 72

Recipes

I love desserts. Plain and simple. If there are desserts around, I'm going to eat them.

Sometimes, I honestly don't know where to stop! My wife says it's like I don't have a shut off valve or an "I'm full" alarm in my body. This requires me to have self-discipline when it comes to desserts.

Our featured recipe this week has self-discipline built in, because they are single-serving desserts in individualized ramekins. If you don't have any, don't worry because they are incredibly cheap - try these.

Without further adieu, take a look at our Blackberry and Cardamom Creme Brulee. This dessert has it all! The sweetness from the blackberries, some floral notes from the cardamom, and of course the crispy sugary top that is a must when making creme brulee.

Your family and friends will think you warped right out of the Food Network when they try this delicious dessert. They won't even have to stop themselves either...they can eat the whole ramekin guilt free!

Remember to look for clever ingredient swaps and FAQs on more and more recipes every week!

Reviews

Our Blackberry and Cardamom Creme Brulee dessert recommends using the broiler setting on your oven to get that sugary crispy topping on your final dessert preparations.

There is an alternative...and it is sooooo much fun. Sure, it's a little intimidating at first, but once you start trying this small kitchen tool, you won't go back.

If you want to test yourself, and look super cool in the process, skip the broiler and go for the cooking torch. You can create your own crispy sugary top of the creme brulee and look like Bobby Flay just entered your kitchen to finish a delectable dessert.

They're very easy to use and actually a little bit addicting. Use it on creme brulee, or a baked pasta, or give that steak a little extra crust on top before serving it. Give it a try!
